Spine Tumors: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of tumors of the spine.

Family History

  • Is there a frequent history of tumors in your family?

Social anamnesis

Current medical history/systemic history (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Was there a precipitating event for the back pain?
  • How long have they existed? Do they occur continuously or only in phases, for example during movements?
  • Has the character of the pain changed?
  • Did the intensity of the pain change?
  • Did you experience any paralysis or loss of sensation? If so, in what area?
  • Have they regressed or intensified?
  • How to classify your physical resilience?
  • Have you noticed any other symptoms?

Vegetative anamnesis incl. nutritional anamnesis.

  • Have you unintentionally lost body weight? Please tell us your body weight (in kg) and height (in cm).

Self history incl. medication history.

  • Previous diseases (diseases of the musculoskeletal system, tumor diseases).
