Sport has two important functions in relation to circulatory disorders. Physical activity and exercise is an important preventive measure and can promote oxygen supply and the formation of circulatory bypasses, especially in the case of arterial occlusive diseases. In addition, sport helps to reduce overweight and is often accompanied by a healthy diet.

This eliminates several risk factors at the same time. Sport is also important in the diagnosis and early detection of circulatory disorders. This is because during physical activity, the muscles require more oxygen and the heart has to pump more to meet this demand.

In the event of severe vasoconstriction or even vascular occlusion, this is not possible and the patient will experience symptoms such as shortness of breath and a tightness in the chest or pain at an early stage. From the outset, no sport is ruled out for cardiovascular diseases. However, there are sports that are more and others that are less suitable.

Some sports are rather discouraged, but no sport is generally prohibited.Basically, sports with a constant, consistent, but low to moderate intensity are best suited. They strengthen the cardiovascular system without overloading the body. Popular sports that are recommended from a medical point of view therefore include jogging, hiking, Nordic walking, but also swimming or cycling.

But also strength training is no longer a taboo. If you do not train with weights that are too heavy, but with regard to strength endurance, this sport also has a protective effect on the coronary arteries. In addition, many communities or clubs offer so-called heart sport groups.

These are mostly gymnastic exercises. In addition, the mutual exchange of experience is another important point. A general pulse value or similar cannot be prescribed, however.

This changes with the training condition and is also subject to strong fluctuations from person to person. Sweating during sports is not a problem, in fact it is rather desirable. However, you should still be able to talk to each other during sports.
