- Abrasio – scraping of the mucosa of the uterus so that it can then be examined histologically.
- Surgical removal of fibroids (benign tumors) or polyps (mucosal outpouchings of the endometrium).
- Hysterectomy – removal of the uterus in the presence of malignant diseases such as a cervical carcinoma (cervical cancer) or endometrial carcinoma (uterine cancer).
