The underbone muscle (Musculus infraspinatus) is a three-sided, elongated muscle. Like the trapezius muscle, it has three different parts.

Function
The sub-bone muscle (Musculus infraspinatus) is primarily an external rotator. The upper part of the sub-bone muscle works as a lifter, the lower part as an abductor of the shoulder joint.
