Subclavian Steal Syndrome: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of subclavian steal syndrome.

  • Where is the pain localized? In both arms equally?
  • When does the pain occur? During movements, at rest, etc.?
  • Do you have any functional limitations of the arms?
  • Do you suffer from dizziness, brief loss of consciousness* , etc. when you strain the affected arm?
  • Do you suffer from ringing in the ears?
  • Have you noticed any sensory disturbances or other symptoms of the arm?
  • Do you suffer from gait disturbances? If yes, since when and in which situations?
