- Ophthalmoscopy – to view the fundus (back of the eye), especially examination of the retina (retina), optic papilla (optic nerve papilla), and blood vessels supplying them (central retinal artery with its branches).
- Vision test
- Tonometry (intraocular pressure measurement)
- Perimetry (visual field measurement)
Optional medical device diagnostics – depending on the results of the medical history, physical examination, laboratory diagnostics and mandatory medical device diagnostics – for differential diagnostic clarification.
- Sonography (ultrasound) of the eye(s).
- Computed tomography of the skull (cranial CT) – if a cerebral cause is suspected (e.g., transient ischemic attack (TIA), apoplexy (stroke), or cortical blindness)
