Summary | Boils

Summary

Boils are bacterial infections and occur frequently and mostly without a recognizable cause. Although they are caused by an inflammation of the hair follicles and can therefore occur in principle anywhere on the hairy skin, they are found more frequently on the face and in the genital or buttock region, where they are also felt to be particularly annoying. As a rule, however, they take a favorable course and heal on their own.

Only in rare cases do complications occur, especially if the boils are located above the upper lip, as the germs can then find their way into the brain via the venous system, which is why one should never be tempted to push around boils on the face. It is therefore advisable to prevent the development of boils from the very beginning by ensuring adequate hygiene.
