Summary | Electromyography

Summary

The principles of electromyography allow the recording and evaluation of electrical potentials of motor units. Especially in combination with the analysis of the nerve conduction velocity (NLG), the EMG offers the possibility of processing clinical symptoms such as muscle weakness, as well as initial assessments for the prognosis and initial diagnosis of various nerve disorders and inflammatory processes in the muscle. However, no specific potential in electromyography (EMG) is characteristic for a single disease; therefore the result of electromyography (EMG) must always be interpreted in the context of the patient and his other diseases and examinations in order to provide a profitable diagnostic method for the patient.
