Summary | Exercises against a patella luxation

Summary

Since patella dislocation is often influenced by anatomical factors, it is first necessary to make a detailed status report in order to correct possible risk factors such as muscular imbalances or leg axis malpositions through targeted training. The knee joint should maintain or regain its full mobility, which can be achieved by means of light mobilization exercises. Strengthening exercises for the medial thigh extensor muscles and stretching exercises for the lateral side are particularly important.

In order to stabilize the patella in its sliding bearing, the muscles should not only be strengthened but also supplemented by specific sport-specific coordination training. The training must be carried out consistently over several months to achieve visible results. If dislocations occur again or accompanying injuries to the bone, cartilage or ligaments, surgical treatment may also be indicated.
