Summary | Hallux-valgus – Shoes

Summary

Hallux valgus is a widespread malposition in the joint. The metatarsal bone sinks, muscles tense up and pull the toe into the described deviation. Once manifested, the malalignment cannot be reversed.

Physiotherapy, active strengthening and stretching exercises, as well as a change of shoes reduce the symptoms and prevent a rapid deterioration. If the hallux nevertheless causes too much discomfort and restricts everyday life, an operation should be considered in order to avoid secondary symptoms such as arthrosis and severe pressure points. The footwear, which is the focus of this article, is often the cause and also the solution to the hallux curvature.
