Summary | Metatarsal fracture – therapy

Summary

A metatarsal fracture often occurs in the form of a fatigue fracture, especially in athletes with repeated and continuous strain on the foot. As a rule, the fracture can heal under immobilization without surgery. However, if the fractures are too far away from their original location, they are reattached to each other with screws or small plates and wires. In both cases, a mainly active physiotherapeutic treatment is then performed to restore optimal stability and mobility.
