Summary
“Periodontosis” as a disease of the periodontium does not exist and the misleading use of the term to describe periodontitis should disappear from the media and advertising. Periodontitis can be brought to a halt by professional therapy and cooperation of the patient, but it cannot be cured. A restoration of the original condition is unfortunately not possible.
