Summary | Physiotherapy for inflamed lymph nodes

Summary

Lymph nodes can be swollen for various reasons. In the case of acute inflammation of the lymph nodes (adenitis), anti-inflammatory therapy should be administered, either by medication or by cooling. Depending on the underlying disease, problems of the lymphatic system can be treated by manual lymph drainage in physiotherapy.

These are targeted, gentle massage techniques that are intended to have a positive influence on the lymph flow. Lymphatic drainage may be contraindicated in cases of bacterial infections or malignant diseases.
