Summary | Physiotherapy for tendinitis

Summary

Physiotherapy for tendinitis depends on the stage of the disease (acute or chronic). In both cases, the aim is to restore the mobility of the joint and the resilience of the tendon. Soft tissue techniques as well as active and passive stretching techniques can be used for this purpose.

Eccentric training and stretching is particularly useful in cases of chronic tendosynovitis. Here the muscle should slowly become long against a resistance. Relief in everyday life and an examination and avoidance of the causes of the original overloading are also part of physiotherapy for tendosynovitis. The treatment by the physiotherapist should always be supplemented by a jointly developed homework program for the patient.
