Summary | St. John’s wort

Summary

St. John’s wort is a perennial plant. In winter, the visible parts of the plant die off, and a new plant grows out of the rhizon the following year. From June to September, the yellow sun wheels bloom.

The leaves, which are 10 mm long and 3 mm wide, have a bright liquid of essential oils when viewed against the light. They make the leaves appear perforated. When the fresh flowers are cut up, a dark red dye emerges, which is used medicinally. Today the herbal medicine St. John’s wort is used for its slightly mood-lifting effect or to treat mild to moderate depression and nervous restlessness. We support: Sun protection
