Sweet Clover: Effect and Side Effects

Coumarin acts against water retention in the tissues (edema). Edema can occur, among other things, when the vascular or lymphatic system is no longer fully intact and fluid or lymph from the (lymphatic) vessels into the tissue. Coumarin has an anti-edematous effect by reducing the permeability of the vessels and increasing the flow rate in the venous and lymphatic systems.

Animal studies have also demonstrated an increase in wound healing and anti-inflammatory effects.

Sweet clover: side effects

Coumarin shows liver-toxic effects in some animal species. Previously suspected carcinogenic effects have been largely disproved. In rare cases, headaches may occur when taking sweet clover.

Currently, there are no known interactions with other agents.
