Tautness of connective tissue

Especially women often suffer from a weakness of the connective tissue. Due to evolution, women have a higher body fat percentage than men anyway. Young women have on average 25%, men only 18% body fat.

In the course of life this value usually increases for both sexes. The female energy reserves are intended to ensure the nutrition of the child during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The fat distribution in women mainly comprises the buttocks, hips and thighs, while men tend to gain weight around the abdomen.

However, the hip and buttock fat tissue is particularly stubborn because other fat receptors are located here. Therefore, a tightening in this region requires the most discipline and takes the longest time. Due to this fat storage, the underlying connective tissue is severely strained and overstretched. Factors that put additional strain on the weak connective tissue are strong weight fluctuations, smoking, pregnancies – especially multiple pregnancies – rapid growth in puberty and severe overweight.

Conservative measures

The first measures to tighten the connective tissue are described in the article “Strengthening connective tissue”. They include a balanced diet, endurance and strengthening sports, sufficient drinking, weight normalisation and massages, alternating showers and skin care. Prophylactically, one should try to maintain normal weight or achieve it gently through a change in diet and physical activity.

Homeopathy

In homeopathy one strives for healing from the outside as well as from the inside. In the case of connective tissue weakness, nutrition plays an important role in naturopathy. A alkaline-rich diet with lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, dietary fibres is recommended.

Oats and millet are rich in silicon, which supports the tightness of connective tissue. One should also drink enough water a day to provide the body with sufficient fluid for metabolic processes. The naturopathic practice often recommends a combination of a nutrition plan, phytotherapy or salts and lots of exercise.

In homeopathic phytotherapy (herbal medicine), wild garlic and horsetail are used to strengthen the connective tissue. A weakness of the connective tissue is often associated with vein problems, in which case the horse chestnut can help. In addition to the Schuessler salts mentioned, there are globules that can help.

Silicea globules are very popular when there is a loss of elasticity in the connective tissue. For weak connective tissue and skin problems caused by acidity or digestive problems, the homeopathic remedy sodium phosphoricum can help. Remedial procedures, such as cupping, and a detoxification cure are also popular to strengthen the connective tissue. Equally effective are alternating showers and brush massages to strengthen the tissue.

Which creams should help?

There are different creams in different price ranges that help to tighten the connective tissue. The basic principle is: Prevention is better than damage control. Garnier offers the inexpensive “Body Tonic immediately firming rich milk”, which contains green tea and caffeine.

The body lotion promises to care for and tighten the skin and increase its elasticity. The product should actually help to tighten the connective tissue. Shrink To Fit” and “Get Waisted” body lotions from Mio are a kind of cure, each costing around €42, and should be used together to help tighten skin and reduce cellulite.

“Shrink To Fit is for thighs, bottom and arms, Get Waisted for stomach and waist. According to experience reports, the products directly lead to increased blood circulation in the skin, the skin looks smooth and well cared for and tightens the connective tissue. The body serum “Skin Trainer Body” from Kiko for about 19€ promises a “5 in 1” function, it is supposed to act on the skin like a fitness trainer by tightening the skin, moisturizing it, smoothing or preventing orange peel skin and stretch marks and promoting the blood circulation of the skin. The tube is equipped with small metal balls at the opening, which should massage the serum into the skin during application. The product should be used twice a day for 56 days in order to specifically tighten the connective tissue.
