Testicular Swelling (Scrotal Swelling)

Testicular swelling (scrotal swelling, scrotum swelling; ICD-10-GM N50.8: Other specified diseases of the male genital organs) can indicate many different diseases of the male genital organs, some of which are serious.

Scrotal swelling may present without pain, with mild pain, or with severe pain. One testicle or both testicles may be affected.

Testicular swelling can be a symptom of many diseases (see under “Differential diagnoses”).

Course and prognosis: The course and prognosis depend on the cause of the disease. Medical clarification is necessary in any case. If acute testicular swelling occurs with or without pain in the scrotum, often radiating to the groin, immediate presentation to a urologist is urgently required!
