The cost of oxygen saturation can be very variable depending on the underlying disease. If you want to buy a pulse oximeter to control the saturation at home, you have to calculate with costs between 30 and 100 Euro. Most devices are in this price range. The costs for an additional supply of oxygen can be quite expensive. However, these costs are covered by the insurance, because oxygen is only prescribed by the doctor if it is necessary.
What are the alternatives?
In the case of lung damage, where an additional oxygen supply is necessary, there are no alternatives. Through drug therapy and a change in lifestyle, lung function can be improved to a certain extent – but none of these can replace the function of oxygen.
