The fitness room for muscle building

As mentioned at the beginning, both the budget and the space available play a decisive role in the design of the fitness room. An absolute must for the fitness room to build up muscles is a stable rack as the “center” of the fitness room. It offers the possibility to safely put down heavy weights and to perform exercises with your own body weight without having to fear that the bar might not hold the weight or similar.

Equipment for endurance training, such as the rowing machine, is negligible in terms of muscle building as a primary goal.Instead, the money should then be invested in a high quality barbell. The choice of weight, whether cast iron plates or plastic-coated plates, is up to the taste of the user. Since muscle building is mainly done with high weights, safety options should be given a very high priority.

They are there to support the barbell in case of emergency, when you can no longer lift or press it under your own power. Last but not least, it is also advisable to attach a mirror so that you can observe yourself while doing the exercise, since with high weights the technique is often neglected, which can lead to injuries or long-term damage. To summarize the Essentials again briefly: stable, firmly anchored rack, barbell, weight plate set, stable weight bench (adjustable if necessary) and so-called safety spotter.

The fitness room for endurance sports

While you can invest a lot of money in a fitness room for muscle building, a room aimed at endurance training can cost much more. Perhaps the simplest piece of equipment would be a treadmill or bicycle ergometer. Depending on the requirements of the user, he can be satisfied with inexpensive models.

However, if the training is to be done more professionally, the purchase of a so-called Airrunner or a Smart Trainer can make sense. The former is a kind of curved treadmill, which is driven by the runner himself. Depending on how far forward he puts his feet, the belt runs faster or slower.

The second one is a kind of bicycle ergometer, but in which the own wheel is clamped. With this device, gradients can be simulated or the resistance can be adjusted to the exact watt. Furthermore, a rowing machine or a so-called ski is recommended to train endurance. However, these are not able to train the basic endurance as well as the two devices mentioned before.
