The Well-Groomed Man: Tips for a Well-Groomed Appearance

A well-groomed appearance is the business card of personality. What should be on it, the experts reveal. The well-groomed man pays attention to his appearance and does something against the visual side effects of aging. Here men can find tips on hair and facial care, the perfect shave, lip and skin care and hair removal.

Hair care for men

The hairy companions should always be freshly washed and coiffed – a disheveled mop of hair makes a bad impression. This is especially true for the friends of a longer head of hair. Those who love their mat should at least have the tips cut regularly. In addition, men should follow these tips for hair care:

  • At the dermatologist or hairdresser, the man learns what type of hair he has and can then choose the appropriate shampoo.
  • Trickle the dandruff from the head, create special shampoos remedy, which are also available in the pharmacy.
  • A hair tonic makes the man’s mop of hair look more well-groomed, some also inhibit dandruff with regular use.
  • If the hair thins quickly (and at a young age) despite the best care, a visit to the dermatologist is also recommended. Not always the unalterable genes are to blame – the causes of hair loss are often hormonal and can possibly be treated medically.

Facial care for men

Few things reflect the passing of the years of life like the face. With age, his skin sags and becomes tired – hamster cheeks and bags under the eyes threaten. The skin becomes drier and thinner and wrinkles form. Good care prevents the side effects of aging, slows down deep wrinkles and sagging skin. In the morning and in the evening, the skin can be kept clean with a washing gel, which preferably also contains algae or aloe vera. The substances preserved in them nourish the skin particularly well and moisturize it. If you have sensitive skin, you should use a wash cream or wash oil; for sensitive skin, mildly lipid-replenishing products are recommended. Against tired looks it helps to pamper the eye area: special eye creams or gels tighten the skin, keep crow’s feet at a distance and prevent bags under the eyes.

Shaving: special shaving foam against red spots.

The daily facial shaving – for most annoying, but a must to appear well-groomed. However, sometimes more than the annoying stubble is removed: especially the wet razors also scrape off pieces of skin with it. This can have unpleasant consequences, especially for men with sensitive complexions. Red spots on the neck and cheeks are difficult to conceal, and irritated skin tends to become inflamed. Reaching for a dry razor can already solve the problem, but fragrance-free shaving foams and fresh razor blades tailored to the skin type also help.

Lip and skin care

The lips should also be cared for – various good care sticks are available in stores. Who often suffers from herpes, needs a special care cream from the pharmacy, the active ingredient of lemon balm has proven particularly successful. Special lip care is also needed if the corners of the mouth crack in winter. If chapped, cracked skin at the corners of the mouth is a permanent condition, the doctor should rule out a vitamin or mineral deficiency. The sensitive skin on the neck requires special care and should be well lubricated on a regular basis. For the rest of the body, this applies especially after bathing or showering. Here, a body milk tailored to the specific skin type is recommended.

Hair in ears and nose

With increasing age, men grow hair in the most inappropriate places – and do not exactly contribute to a well-groomed appearance. Who fluff sprouts from the ear canal and nostrils, however, should not reach for the nail scissors, the risk of injury is too great. In every pharmacy or drugstore there are ear and nose hair trimmers that make both sensory organs look well-groomed again. Also the hairdresser trims the wild growth – with simultaneous haircut often for free.

Removal of body hair

Hair under the armpits, on the back, shoulders, abdomen or legs can be removed relatively easily, but not permanently. The easiest and fastest way is to simply shave away what needs to go. However, hair will grow back within a few days. Depilatory creams last two to three weeks. If you stick wax on the affected areas, you’ll have about two months of peace. If you want to have your hair permanently removed, you have to undergo electroepilation at a dermatologist or a beauty salon. This method destroys the hair roots, which is expensive and time-consuming. The prices should be asked in advance. However: Surveys show that about half of the women find a thick coat on a man quite attractive. So: before you get to the body, ask your sweetheart for her opinion first.
