Therapy and Prophylaxis

If your hair appears greasy quickly after washing, sufferers often tend to take excessive care and wash their hair very often. Unfortunately this is exactly the wrong step! The following tips will help you get your greasy hair under control.

Use mild, herbal-based shampoos to care for your hair. Extracts of rosemary, chamomile, horsetail or yarrow normalize the oiliness and soothe the scalp. On the other hand, shampoos that dry out strongly, too hot water and strong head massages support sebum production.

Lukewarm water is therefore best suited. If your hairline becomes greasy very quickly, a dry shampoo can also help in between! Simply spray it from a distance of about 20 cm onto dry hair, let it work for a short time and then remove the residue with a towel and brush the hair carefully.

Basically oily hair is less in need of care than dry hair. Hair treatments, conditioners, oils or masks are therefore actually unnecessary. If you still want to use the products mentioned above, save on hairline and scalp and limit the use to the hair tips or lengths. If you want a little more bounce and elasticity, you can also fall back on an old household remedy: After washing your hair, simply rinse with a little wine vinegar and lukewarm water in a ratio of 1:10.

Without much effort, you can quickly and easily produce your own proven household remedies to combat greasy hair. For example, a conditioner with lukewarm chamomile tea or black tea can help. However: Do not use lemon juice conditioners!

They only help for a very short time and dry out your scalp strongly, so that the sebaceous glands counter-regulate with an increased production of skin lipids. After washing, many of us tend to heavily towel dry our hair quickly with a towel. Quickly greasy hair, but should be gently squeezed out to avoid unnecessarily irritating the sebaceous glands of the scalp.

Also make sure that there is sufficient distance between the hot air dryer and the scalp, as heat also promotes the activity of the sebaceous glands. If your hair becomes greasy particularly quickly, even after washing, you should avoid using a hairbrush and use a comb instead. Because its many small bristles distribute the sebum in the hair and ensure a stringy, greasy hair appearance all the faster.

Also clean your hair comb regularly. Especially among teenagers, the wearing of caps, hats and co. is very common. Under the headgear, however, a warm and humid climate often develops, which stimulates the production of the sebaceous glands and thus leads to an even faster greasing of the hair.

It is therefore recommended for affected persons to wear as little cap etc. as possible.
