Therapy | Bernhardt-Roth Syndrome

Therapy

First of all, the patient should be informed about the harmlessness of his complaints. Since the main triggers of the Bernhardt-Roth syndrome are overweight or tight clothing, the weight should first be normalised by a change in diet and increased endurance sports. This is because the main cause of overweight is incorrect nutrition and too little physical activity.

Among other things, it makes sense to avoid eating meat every day. In addition, fat should be consumed in as small quantities as possible and an increased proportion of vegetables and fruit should be eaten instead. However, comprehensive nutritional advice should be sought.

In addition, care should be taken to wear loose clothing (especially in the area of the groin ligament and thigh). Avoiding long periods of standing in a stretched position is already beneficial. Ordinary painkillers such as ibuprofen often lead to an alleviation of the symptoms. If the pain does not improve as a result, a special pain therapy with a cortisone preparation or a nerve block with a local anaesthetic can be used. If the symptoms are very severe and persistent, neurolysis (surgery on the nerves) can be performed.

Forecast

The prognosis for Bernhardt-Roth syndrome is comparatively good, as treatment leads to an alleviation of symptoms in nine out of ten patients. The causes can usually be easily remedied (for example, clothing that fits too tightly). There is also a spontaneous regression of the discomfort in one in four patients, so that the complaints disappear by themselves.
