Therapy

The duration of abdominal cramps cannot be predicted without an appropriate diagnosis of the cause. It can be a harmless intestinal infection, which in most cases heals by itself within one day. On the other hand, colic can also be caused by gallstones with potentially serious consequences, which do not regress themselves if left untreated.

It should be noted that the classic feature of colic is its undulating course. This ultimately means that the pain may disappear completely in certain phases and then increase again later. If abdominal cramps last longer than a few hours or are very severe, it is strongly recommended that you consult a doctor.
