Therapy

For the treatment of a strain, the so-called PECH (pause, ice, compression, elevation) rule can be applied. This serves to reduce swelling. The faster the cooling, the greater the effect.

These methods of treatment reduce the blood flow in the muscle tissue and thus the leakage of water (edema formation, swelling). If the axillary nerve is injured, paralysis, which usually occurs immediately after the accident, should be actively treated in the acute phase with physiotherapeutic measures under close neurological control. Surgical treatment options should be considered for paralysis and sensory disturbances lasting more than three to four months.
