Therapy

Since dry lips can lead to painful complications such as tears and inflammation, dry lips should always be treated. The treatment of dry lips depends on the cause. In many cases, the treatment of dry lips consists of an increase in fluid intake or the substitution of vitamins.

If cold and especially dry outside air is the reason for dry lips, special equipment can be used to increase the humidity indoors and thus alleviate the symptoms. In any case, the correct care of the lips, for example with lip care sticks, also plays an important role. In this context, attention should be paid to the number of applications and the choice of a suitable lip care stick.

Lip care sticks unfold their caring and moisturizing effect through ingredients such as jojoba oil, olive oil, beeswax, calendula or chamomile and should be used daily. Suitable lip care sticks are available in a drugstore or pharmacy. Also when using colored lipsticks for cosmetic purposes, make sure to choose a suitable product.

Matt lipsticks, for example, contain little moisture, which means they cover particularly well and adhere to the lips for a long time and are therefore used frequently. However, the low moisture content causes the lips to dry out, so they should not be used on dry lips. On the contrary, colored lip gloss, which moisturizes dry lips, is suitable.

Prognosis

Dry lips are persistent and the treatment of dry lips can be lengthy. However, if suitable lip care products are used early on, the prognosis is good.
