First of all, the cause of the too dry skin should be found out in order to treat it optimally. If there is no skin disease, the following tips can help against dandruff and dry scalp: Hair should not be washed daily if the scalp is dry, as the shampoos also extract important moisture from the skin.

Washing about two to three times a week is sufficient. The water temperature should not be too hot. It is also important to use a special shampoo for dry scalp and for moisture.

Normal shampoos often contain fragrances or preservatives that additionally irritate the scalp. Shampoos for dry skin are usually particularly mild and contain special ingredients, such as urea, which have a moisturizing and refatting effect on the scalp. If the skin is very scaly, an anti-dandruff shampoo is recommended.

Wet hair should not be blow-dried afterwards, but dried in the air. If this is not possible, cold air or mild heat can also be used. Styling products such as hairspray, hair gel or hair mousse can also irritate the skin and should therefore be used sparingly.

There are also household remedies that can help with dry scalp. For example, olive oil: a few drops of the oil are applied directly to the scalp, preferably using a pipette, which makes it easier to apply to the scalp. The olive oil can be massaged in and should work overnight.

The next morning the olive oil is washed out of the hair with a mild shampoo. If necessary, this treatment can be applied once or twice a week. But also hair treatments, especially for dry hair, help to regenerate the hair and scalp when used regularly once or twice a week.

Here it is important to pay attention to the application time of the cures, so that the ingredients can develop their effect. Shampoos against dry scalp give the scalp a lot of moisture and are very gentle. This relieves itching and burning of the scalp, as well as dandruff.

There are many different shampoos against dry scalp on the market. Very well known is the shampoo from Linola®. It is very gentle and known for its eponymous oily cream for dry and rough skin.

Furthermore there are shampoos by Sebamed®, also a medical product for the treatment of dry scalp. Common to all shampoos is that you can buy them without any problems in the drugstore. The best way to find out which shampoo is best is to test it yourself.

There are various household remedies against dry scalp available. The most common and well-known household remedies are coconut oil, tea tree oil or olive oil. In addition, one can also treat the scalp with egg yolk, honey or avocado.

The honey can be simply massaged into damp hair. The honey should act for 15 minutes on the scalp and can then be washed out again.Since honey is known to be very sticky, it should be washed out with plenty of warm water and shampoo to prevent the hair from becoming brittle. For particularly long hair, honey is less suitable.

The egg yolk is massaged like the honey also into the wet hair. If possible, the egg yolk should be left to work for one night, the rest of the egg yellow can be washed out the next morning. Both procedures should be used at least twice a week.

Olive oil is one of the best known household remedies for dry scalp. The olive oil should be massaged into the scalp. Like most other household remedies, olive oil should be applied to the scalp overnight to achieve an effect.

In the morning the oil should be removed with warm water and a shampoo against dry scalp. This can be repeated a few times a week. The olive oil naturally cares for the scalp.

It has no harmful substances. In addition, a ripe avocado can be used when applying oil. The avocado is very rich in healthy fatty acids and provides the scalp with additional moisture.

The coconut oil is used like the olive oil. The coconut oil is also massaged into the scalp and should be applied to the scalp overnight. The coconut oil is said to be even more skin-friendly than olive oil.

The disadvantage of the coconut oil is however that it is around some more expensive than the olive oil. The cheapest coconut oil can be found in supermarkets for Asian specialties. The tea tree oil is a widespread household remedy against skin problems of any kind.

It is available in the drugstore. The tea tree oil is not applied directly to the skin. When using Tea Tree Oil, you should also use a mild shampoo against dry scalp.

Add a few drops of the tea tree oil to the shampoo and wash your hair. The disadvantage of this method is that the tea tree oil cannot act on the scalp for several hours. Hair tonic is a water made from herbal products for the treatment of dry scalp.

The hair tonic can be put together by yourself. It helps against dry scalp as well as against the resulting dandruff. The hair tonic can have different ingredients and can be composed using recipes.

The hair tonic contains only natural ingredients. Dry skin on the head is a typical symptom of psoriasis. Psoriasis is a systemic disease that affects the skin and joints.

A systemic therapy must be used against psoriasis. In addition to this systemic therapy, the symptoms on the skin can be alleviated by using skin care creams or cortisone in acute phases. Since cortisone is not recommended for permanent use, a caring shampoo should be used as a permanent treatment.

This can alleviate symptoms. In any case, the treating physician should be consulted during an episode. During pregnancy, hormones change.

This can also result in skin changes. In addition to the change in the appearance of the skin, dry, flaky scalp can also occur. During pregnancy, the same remedies against dry scalp can be used as usual. There is no danger for the growing child. During pregnancy, too, shampoos and household remedies such as oil, avocado or honey usually help.
