Therapy exercises

These exercises promote both an increase in strength and improved mobility. The further the strap is stretched, the stronger the resistance. There are different strengths, which the physiotherapist selects individually.

Foot lifter paresis exercises Foot lifter paresis exercises

  1. To strengthen the foot lifter muscles: The patient sits in a long seat in front of a wall bar. The Theraband is attached as a loop to a low rung so that the forefoot can be hooked into the loop. The heels are fixed to the floor.

    Keep your back straight while pulling your feet towards your body. The knees should not be pushed through. The tips of the feet point to the ceiling.

    10-15 repetitions with three sets. Or you can attach a heavier object (dumbbell) to a loop. The loop is hung around the foot and the foot should then be pulled upwards with the weight.

  2. Pronator strengthening: The patient sits on the floor in a long seat.

    A loop is tied and knotted from the Theraband. The loop is then placed around both feet. The Theraband should be attached to the working metatarsus, in the middle of the foot.Then pull the outer edge of the foot against the Theraband, outwards and slowly let go again. 10-15 repetitions with three sets.

  3. Supinator strengthening: See exercise above only the one that is pulled inwards. The Theraband must be fixed around the table leg and only around the foot to be trained.

Therapy spinning top/balance board

Exercises on the therapy spinning top can be done in different starting positions and degrees of difficulty. From easy to difficult: More exercises can be found in the article Exercises Ankle fracture.

  1. Keep your balance, standing with both legs on the therapy spinning top
  2. Easy up and down movement of the body with the help of knee flexion
  3. Stand one-legged, first on the healthy leg and then on the affected leg
  4. Stand with eyes closed (first with both legs)
  5. The physiotherapist throws a ball to the patient in different heights and directions in which the patient should walk, which the patient then has to catch.
  6. In the kneeling position, stand with the affected leg on a therapy spinning top. Then the patient is asked to push himself up into the standing position so that he arrives in an upright position.
