Therapy | Increase of the second blood pressure value

Therapy

If the second blood pressure value is too high, various measures are available for treatment. First, one tries to lower the blood pressure without medication. The focus here is on optimizing the lifestyle.

It is recommended to do endurance sports regularly and to pay attention to a healthy, low-fat diet. In this way overweight and blood fats can be reduced. Smokers are strongly advised to give up smoking.

Other underlying diseases, especially diabetes mellitus, should also be well controlled. If the second blood pressure value is still too high under this treatment, medication should be taken. There are different groups of medication.

In most cases, so-called ACE inhibitors, beta-blockers or diuretics (“water tablets”) are used. Each drug has advantages and disadvantages. In the case of an isolated increase in the second blood pressure value, it has been shown that the beta-blocker nebivolol acts in a particularly targeted manner.

It reduces the performance of the heart and at the same time causes the blood vessels to dilate, so that the second blood pressure value drops. However, other substances from the above-mentioned groups can also effectively lower blood pressure. If there is an underlying disease, this must of course also be included in the therapy.

Important for the second blood pressure value in this context is the treatment of a reduced thyroid function with thyroid hormones. The therapy must be adjusted individually for each patient according to the type and extent of the symptoms. There are relatively clear recommendations as to when treatment should begin.

For the second blood pressure value, there are also limit values, as with the first. The limit from which the second blood pressure value is too high is set at >90 mmHg. If an increase in the second value has been diagnosed with certainty, treatment is necessary.

However, the type of treatment always depends on the severity of the symptoms and the level of the blood pressure value. In the case of only slight increases, it is possible to wait for a short time and observe before further measures are taken. In addition to the orientation on measured values, there are further criteria as to when treatment is necessary.

In the case of existing symptoms such as physical weakness or a drop in performance, treatment must be initiated. This is also the case if structural changes are observed in the heart. Particular attention is paid to the coronary arteries.

It is extremely important to initiate treatment before damage occurs. Home remedies against high blood pressure come in many forms and variations. First of all, a lot of exercise in the fresh air has a positive effect on the second (and of course also on the first) blood pressure.

Nutrition also plays an important role (high in fiber and low in salt). In addition, remedies such as a liter of peppermint tea a day help for several weeks. Black cumin oil can also lower the second blood pressure value.

Garlic also has a positive effect on blood pressure, and the consumption of garlic also causes a slight thinning of the blood. Caution is advised here if you have a special tendency to clot or are already undergoing therapy with blood thinners.Homeopathy also knows many remedies for high blood pressure, but the effect of homeopathic remedies is controversial. If the blood pressure of an affected person rises to the head, i.e. causes dizziness and headaches, Aurum metallicum can be used against the complaints.

If, in addition, tinnitus and nosebleeds occur due to the elevated second blood pressure value, one can take Arnica. Furthermore, Viscum album and Plumbum metallicum are frequently used homeopathic remedies against high blood pressure. Usually all these remedies have an effect on both the first and second blood pressure values.
