Therapy | Inflammation of the uterus

Therapy

If the uterine inflammation can be traced back to a specific cause, the therapy primarily serves to eliminate this factor. If the inflammation is apparently caused by a previously inserted coil, it must first be removed. Any remaining placental remains in the uterus following a pregnancy must be scraped out so that the uterus can recover.

In case of a severe uterine inflammation, treatment in a hospital may be necessary. Once the triggering factors have been eliminated, the actual treatment of the inflammation can begin. Antibiotics are usually used for bacterial uterine inflammation. If the symptoms are severe, painkillers can also be used. It is important that the woman concerned allows herself plenty of rest and gives her body sufficient time to cure the inflammation completely to avoid complications.

Prophylaxis

To avoid uterine inflammation, it is important to ensure adequate intimate hygiene. Since uterine inflammation usually develops from vaginal inflammation, it should already be avoided. To this end, washing with soap in the intimate area should be avoided, as this attacks the natural protective barriers.

It is better to use soap-free preparations. Furthermore, condoms can prevent pathogens from being carried into the vagina during sexual intercourse and causing an inflammation there. For known problems with the natural vaginal environment, Döderlein bacteria (lactic acid bacteria), which are prophylactically introduced into the vagina in capsule form, can help to strengthen the protective mechanisms of the vagina and maintain the natural flora.

Thus, incipient inflammations are fended off from the very beginning. In addition, a healthy and balanced diet with sufficient exercise is important for strengthening the immune system.
