Therapy

Tumescence technique Ultrasound-assisted liposuction or ultrasound-assisted aspiration lipectomy Liposuction with vibration technique or power-assisted liposuction The excess fluid that emerges from the incisions in the first few days after the operation consists mainly of the remaining saline solution. The liquid can be removed by cannulas. If a larger area has been treated, a drainage is often applied to drain off wound fluid, blood or even the excess saline solution.

A compression bandage is often applied to prevent excessive tissue swelling, pain and deformity. If the skin is still tight, it will contract again after the operation. The operated body parts are then also shaped.

This is more difficult for patients with very stretched skin. Here, additional measures such as an abdominoplasty may be necessary.

  • Procedure of the operation: Liquid saline solution is injected into the affected areas of the body in combination with a local anesthetic (or e.g.

adrenaline, enzymes) in order to better dissolve out the fat cells and reduce bleeding during the operation One or more skin incisions (no larger than a few millimeters) are made with a suction tube into the pre-treated fatty tissue and part of it is sucked out Here the later body shape is modeled

  • Worth knowing: The most frequently used method If fat is removed from several places or a larger area is suctioned, the operation is performed under anesthesia The incision during the operation is made in such a way that no scars are visible later or they disappear into skin folds

  • The liquid fat is sucked out
  • Fun Facts: This technique is based on the original method Advantageous for fat cells in areas with a large amount of connective tissue (e.g.

in the back or the man’s breast in the case of pseudogynecomastia) Advantageous for the second liposuction procedure if fat cells have reappeared after the first procedure (e.g. in the case of diseases such as lipedema) More time-consuming than the tumescent technique

In the first days after liposuction, the patient is given a compression bandage. This is to absorb the remaining fluid (wound fluid, blood or excess saline solution).

There are also special compression corsets that have a positive influence on the healing process. Through compression, the detached layers connect with the lower tissue. This process results in optimal healing and promotes coalescence.

However, these corsets must be worn for 24 hours for up to six weeks. The compression corsets support the body shape and have a decisive influence on the final result. Whether an inpatient (major surgery) or outpatient stay (minor surgery) is recommended for the patient depends on the volume to be removed.

In the in-patient procedure for liposuction, the patient remains in the clinic for several days. This also ensures optimal care, which in turn ensures a good healing process. After liposuction, all activities should be reduced to a minimum until further notice.

Sports activities are possible again after about four to five weeks. The reddening of the scars gradually decreases until it finally almost fades. The final result of the surgery can be seen only after a few months.
