Therapy

The treatment of nail fungus on the finger can be done in different ways. The most suitable therapy depends mainly on the causative pathogen and the extent of the infection.Regardless of the type of nail fungus treatment, affected persons should attach great importance to hygiene. If nail fungus on the finger, the hands must be washed and disinfected at regular intervals.

Otherwise there is a risk that the nail fungus spreads to other areas. If the nail fungus does not affect more than two thirds of the fingernail, treatment can be carried out with externally applied drugs (so-called topical therapy). In the topical treatment of nail fungus on the finger, a special ointment or varnish must be applied to the affected areas at regular intervals.

These ointments contain active ingredients that affect the growth of the fungus and effectively kill the fungal spores. In addition, special antimycotic (anti-fungal) nail varnish can be applied. If the nail fungus on the finger has already spread over a large part of the nail plate, a systemic treatment must usually be initiated.

This is a nail fungus therapy in which the medication must be taken orally in the form of tablets. With the help of a systemic treatment, the nail fungus on the finger disappears completely within three to six months. Most of the drugs used for the treatment of nail fungus on the finger are only available on prescription from the pharmacy.

The costs of such drugs can be very high. For this reason many of the patients concerned swear on the application of simple household remedies. The most frequently used home remedies against nail fungus on the finger are: Tea tree and lavender oil: Tea tree or lavender oil are particularly suitable for the effective treatment of nail fungus infections on the finger.

Both substances unfold their effect via a strong antifungal (fungicidal) effect. Neither the use of tea tree oil nor lavender oil has to be expected to cause relevant undesirable side effects. The application of both oils as household remedies for nail fungus on the finger usually takes only a few minutes.

In order to treat the nail fungus on the finger fast and effectively, the application of this household remedy should take place over a period of at least one week. If there is no improvement within 2 weeks despite regular application of the oil, a doctor must be consulted in any case. Apple vinegar: Apple vinegar is also one of the most popular household remedies for treating nail fungus on the finger.

Even before use, the apple vinegar should be diluted with ordinary tap water (dilution ratio 1:1). Afterwards a clean cloth or a piece of cloth can be soaked in the apple vinegar-water solution and applied to the nail fungus. The cider vinegar deprives the fungus, which is the cause of the infection, of its habitat necessary for reproduction when used regularly. The first successes of this household remedy can already be observed after a few days.
