Therapy | Skin rash after fever

Therapy

The treatment is carried out according to the cause of the disease. In general, if the rash is very itchy, it can be treated with Fenistil® ointment or, if necessary, with a glucocorticoid cream prescribed by the doctor. In most cases, especially in the case of children’s diseases, no therapy is necessary, as the rash disappears by itself.

If the rash is caused by a drug allergy, the drug should be discontinued and replaced with another if necessary. In the case of scarlet fever, antibiotics are administered to kill the bacteria causing the disease and the rash will disappear again. When treating the rash of shingles, a so-called zinc shaking mixture can be applied, which has an anti-inflammatory and anti-itching effect.

There are several homeopathic remedies that can be used for the early, general signs of the disease, such as fever and sore throat, and that act against the rash. For example, it is recommended to take Belladonna in case of three-day fever, measles and rubella. The rash of scarlet fever can be treated with Rhus toxicodendron.

Apis mellifica and mezereum are recommended for shingles. The therapy of rheumatic fever can be supported with phytolacca. Cardiospermum can be taken in case of rash caused by a drug allergy. You can read more information on this topic here: Household remedy for a skin rash

Infection

While rashes are not contagious in the case of a drug allergy, the so-called childhood diseases are sometimes highly contagious. Measles, for example, can be transmitted even with only brief contact. However, if one has already experienced the disease once, one has lifelong immunity and cannot become infected again.

Scarlet fever, on the other hand, can be contracted more often, even if you have already had scarlet fever once. Shingles is the reactivation of chickenpox viruses that persist in the body. Shingles itself is not as contagious as chickenpox itself.

However, people who have not been vaccinated against chickenpox or have not yet been through the disease can become infected through the vesicles. This is where the virus is found (Is shingles contagious? ).
