Therapy

The treatment of the rash also depends on the triggering cause. Thus, the basic rule of any skin rash therapy is to eliminate the triggering cause. If it is suspected that a new drug is responsible for the rash, it must be discontinued and replaced with another drug.

Even in the case of skin creams that have been newly applied, the best therapy is to consistently discontinue the ingredient. Jewelry that causes intolerances should also be taken off. If there is a suspicion that one of the above-mentioned diseases, such as measles, scarlet fever or rubella, is responsible for the rash, in most cases it is necessary to wait until the disease is over.

An exception are bacterial infections (such as syphilis), which also cause skin rashes and can be treated with antibiotics. For all allergic causes, an attempt can be made to treat the disease (in addition to stopping the substance that causes the rash) with cortisone (ointment or tablets) or with a histamine blocker (cetirizine). Furthermore, symptomatic treatment measures should be taken, which may consist of cooling compresses or cooling gels.

If acne is the cause, drugs that reduce sebum production and prevent skin inflammation can be used. As a woman, there is the option of the contraceptive pill in this case. The patient should consult a gynecologist for this.

The list of possibilities to treat rashes with natural home remedies is long and often the spirits argue about what helps and what doesn’t, because the effect of these methods is usually not scientifically proven. Therefore, you should try out for yourself what helps you best and what does not. If there is no improvement, a visit to a doctor is recommended, because although skin rashes are harmless in most cases, they can also be symptoms of serious diseases that need to be treated with medication.

In general, moisture and gel is recommended for rashes and skin lesions, for example perfume-free aloe vera gel, cool moist compresses e.g. with yoghurt or a bath with sea salt. If the skin is extremely dry and thus damaged, a treatment with anything that provides fat to the skin is recommended, e.g. lavender or sunflower oil, but also various creams that contain a lot of fat and urea. One should take care to wash stressed skin with PH-neutral soap and avoid fragrances and preservatives if possible.

In case of severe itching, antihistamines are helpful; these are available in ointments that can be bought in pharmacies. For nettles, dry powder is an effective remedy. If all this does not help, you may or may not have to resort to cortisone.
