Therapy

Since vaginal dryness can be very stressful for affected women, adequate therapy is all the more important. If the complaints are based on a hormonal disorder, for example the onset of menopause, this can be compensated with hormone preparations. However, as these involve some risks and side effects, the intake should be carefully weighed. A detailed consultation with your gynaecologist can help you to make the right decision in this regard.

Alternatively, some hormone-free preparations are now also available which also help to relieve the symptoms in some women, e.g. Vagisan® cream. Homeopathy during the menopause can also be tried. If the vaginal dryness is rather caused by mental tension and nervousness, relaxation methods can help to get the complaints under control.

Affected women can try yoga or autogenic training, for example. Regular physical exercise also helps to reduce stress and compensate for lack of exercise in everyday life. In addition, women with vaginal dryness should pay attention to a few things that can lead to an improvement in symptoms.

These include not using tampons, for example. Only bandages should be used during menstruation, as tampons draw a lot of moisture from the mucous membranes because they sit directly in the vagina. These become even drier and more susceptible to infections.

It is therefore very important for women with vaginal dryness not to use tampons. Adequate intimate hygiene should also be pursued. Frequent washing with soaps or other preparations is not recommended, as this dries out the mucous membranes.

Clear water is completely sufficient to gently cleanse the intimate area and to remove as little moisture as possible from the mucous membranes. To relieve vaginal dryness during sexual intercourse, affected couples should use lubricating creams. These effectively help to reduce friction so that there is no pain or injury during sexual intercourse.

They also prevent subsequent infections and inflammations. There are some homeopathic treatments that are supposed to reduce the discomfort of vaginal dryness. These are often used for dry vaginal mucosa during the menopause.

For example, capsules or tea infusions of red clover, which are supposed to support the blood circulation and moistening of the vagina via herbal estrogens. Other herbal preparations containing phytoestrogens can also be helpful. Other homeopathic remedies that can be used may contain wild yam, which are particularly effective in the case of hormonal imbalance between estrogen and progesterone.

The grape silver candle can also relieve symptoms. If desired, Schüßler salts can be used. In the case of vaginal dryness, especially Calcium Fluoartum No.

1 and Silicea No. 11 (to increase skin elasticity), Potassium Chloratum No. 4 (relieve vaginal dryness) and Sodium Chloratum No.

8 (to regenerate the vaginal mucosa) can be used. Further homeopathic globules can be Sepia officinalis, Graphites and Thuja occidentalis. It is advisable to consult your doctor or pharmacist, especially with regard to possible interactions when taking medication at the same time.
