Therapy – What can you do?

The therapy for middle back pain is of course based on the cause. If it is muscle tension, the muscles can be loosened up again with professional massages or back exercises. Scoliosis often does not require any therapy at all as long as it does not lead to permanent pain.

However, if the scoliosis is very severe, physiotherapy can first be used to strengthen the back muscles and thus counteract the scoliosis. Children often wait and see and hope that the scoliosis will grow out by letting them wear a suitable corset that straightens the spine. However, if there are significant limitations and pain, surgery can help.

In this procedure, titanium rods are attached to the vertebral bodies to force the spine to straighten up. In the case of a slipped disc of BWS, the pain usually disappears after some time on its own as the spine adapts to the new situation. Of course, there is much that can be done to speed up the onset of this condition.

To train the muscles of the middle back effectively, patience and regularity are especially important. Ideally, you should devote at least a quarter of an hour a day to training your back. This is the only way to achieve a lasting improvement of the complaints.

Suitable exercises exist enough for this. For example, the so-called “trunk lifter” is very popular. Here you lie on your stomach, stretch your arms away from you and lift your upper body in a slow movement, while your legs and buttocks are tense.

Hold this position for 10 to 15 seconds and then put your upper body down. Another good way to strengthen your middle back is to lie on your back and raise your pelvis with your legs up until your torso and legs form a straight line. In addition to such exercises, you should also do regular relaxation exercises to relieve the back. Apart from that, you should also pay attention to a healthy posture and sufficient exercise in everyday life. The best strengthening exercises are ultimately not enough if your back is not properly supported in everyday life.
