This is the prognosis

Cough headaches have a very good prognosis overall. This is especially true if an underlying infection can be identified, which subsides within a few days and thus the pain disappears. A slightly worse prognosis, in terms of the duration of the disease, is given for primary cough headaches. However, with the above described therapy options, even these can usually be treated to the point of freedom from symptoms.
