Laboratory parameters of the 2nd order – depending on the results of the history, physical examination, etc. – for differential diagnostic clarification
- Small blood count
- Differential blood count
- Vitamin B12 levels, folic acid levels – if megaloblastic anemia or pernicious anemia (forms of anemia) is suspected.
- Ferritin levels – when iron deficiency anemia is suspected.
- Tongue swab – if candidiasis is suspected (synonyms: candidasis; candidosis; fungal disease).
- Biopsy – on suspicion of, for example, tongue carcinoma (tongue cancer).
