Toric contact lenses

Toric contact lenses are specially adapted lenses for astigmatism. Special values for axis and cylinder are required for the fitting. They must be worn in a certain position to compensate for the curvature of the cornea.

Colored contact lenses can be used to mask the natural color of the iris and thus change the color of the eye. Colored contact lenses are soft contact lenses that correspond to the diameter of the iris. They are available as daily lenses or monthly lenses.

These contact lenses should also be fitted by an optician or ophthalmologist to prevent damage to the eye. The so-called scleral lenses are motive lenses that cover the entire eyeball and make the iris appear very large. They are not available in Germany because they can damage the eye.

Further application forms

OK lenses (orthokeratology lenses) are hard contact lenses that are worn at night and change the curvature of the cornea so that sharp vision is possible for several hours during the day without a visual aid. These lenses have to be made and adjusted by specialists and are significantly more expensive than normal rigid lenses. In certain professions (e.g. pilots) the wearing of OK lenses is not permitted because the vision will deteriorate again unpredictably and thus the ability to drive may not be possible.
