Torn muscle fiber in the rear lower leg

The most effective treatment is immediate cooling of the lower leg. The leg should then be protected, compressed and elevated. Anti-inflammatory painkillers can also help the complaints to subside more quickly.

Torn muscle fibre at the shinbone

The main reason for this is that there is only a very thin layer of muscle above the shinbone, which does not take over any motor functions. Often a torn muscle fibre in the area of the shinbone is not noticed at all and is also not diagnosed. In many cases, treatment is not necessary at all because the pain subsides on its own after a few days. An impairment of movement is rather not to be expected due to the position and function of the thin muscle plate above the shin bone.

The duration of a muscle fiber rupture depends on how many areas of the muscle are ruptured. The larger the injuries are, the more intensively a torn muscle fiber must be treated and the longer the recovery takes. In case of severe muscular injuries, a recovery time of about 1-6 weeks must be assumed.

It is also decisive how consistently the protection of the leg is carried out. Protection, immediate and regular cooling and elevation can reduce the period of illness to a few days up to a maximum of one week.
