The following symptoms and complaints may indicate tracheitis (tracheitis):
Main symptoms
- Pain on inhalation/burning sensation retrosternally (behind the sternum).
- Hoarseness
- Cough
- Stridor (whistling breathing sound)
- Occasional dyspnea (shortness of breath)
- Feeling of dryness
- Formation of viscous purulent secretion (in children with severe edematous swelling of the mucous membrane).
Secondary symptoms
- General feeling of illness
- Fever
