Training

Push-ups are a very good and intensive training for the M. Serratus anterior. Not only is the Serratus anterior muscle trained, but also other muscle groups. In addition, they can be done anywhere where there is only a little space available and absolutely no equipment is needed.

However, to make the anterior serratus muscle the focus of this exercise, the push-ups can be modified slightly. The following describes how to perform this variation. The body is pushed upwards as usual.

As soon as the push up is complete, the shoulders are pushed forward at the uppermost point and the abdominal muscles are tensed, the upper back is pushed upwards and a slight hunchback is formed. This “overextension” tenses the above-mentioned parts of the M. Serratus anterior. You can also train the Serratus anterior muscle well by lifting the shoulders in various ways with dumbbells. In general, it is recommended to integrate the exercises into the chest muscle training, provided that regular strength training is done.
