Treatment

The most common home remedies for neck pain are, with regard to painkillers, ibuprofen, paracetamol and aspirin. The over-the-counter painkillers are harmless when taken over a short period of time, but should never be taken on an empty stomach. In case of long-term use or high doses, a doctor should always be consulted to avoid side effects such as damage to the liver or kidney.

The use of heat or massages is of less concern. Of course, heat should also be used in doses. If used too long or too hot, burns can occur.

However, hot-water bottles or heating pads can otherwise quickly and effectively relieve neck pain by relaxing cramped muscles. Nowadays there is a large number of massage cushions available from a wide variety of suppliers. One should inform oneself well before purchase.

The right pillow can do very good service and, when used correctly, can provide a soothing and relaxing massage. Ointments can also be applied to the skin. Here often applies with strong potent ingredients the same as for medicines, for longer-term use consult us!

In addition to these passive aids, movement is the be-all and end-all in the treatment of neck pain. Tense muscles need movement to loosen up. Light gymnastic exercises for mobilization and stretching exercises for shortened muscles can quickly provide relief.

Used on a long-term basis, they also serve as prophylaxis. If the neck pain is caused by tense muscles, the application of a tape can relieve the pain. Elastic tape, which irritates the receptors of the skin and the muscles and thus should cause relaxation, is suitable for such an application.

The equipment can be placed in different ways, depending on the requirements.Often you can see a tape running from the hairline over the hood muscle, diagonally back of the neck to shoulder height and a strip running next to the spine from the hairline to between the shoulder blades. The exact layout should be shown to you by a professional in order to be able to stick it yourself safely and correctly. Such a tape can be worn for about 5 days, it is waterproof so that the patient can shower with it.

If you are allergic to glue, you should try the tape on before. Common causes, especially of acute neck pain, are disturbances in the position of the vertebral joints. One speaks of a blockage.

A blockage can be resolved by techniques of manual therapy. There are a variety of other gentle mobilization techniques. Deblocking, which in colloquial language is often referred to as settling, can be performed by a doctor, chiropractor or osteopath.

Especially in the cervical spine, the vertebrae are filigree and surrounded by important structures. The condition of the cervical spine should be carefully checked before a blockage is suddenly released and should only be carried out by a trained specialist. If the release is successful, and the cause of the neck pain, the pain will quickly disappear afterwards. After the blockage has been released, a gentle massage may relax the muscles.
