Treatment of the disease only with homeopathy or only as supportive therapy?

Treatment of athlete’s foot is often quite difficult, because the fungal pathogens are quite persistent in the tissue structures. Therefore the success of homeopathy is limited in most cases. After a lack of improvement within a few days to a few weeks, a medical consultation should take place as soon as possible.

In most cases, antimycotic medication is prescribed, i.e. medication that is directly directed against the fungi. These work effectively and quite fast. Here the homeopathic treatment can act supportively. A homeopathic therapy alone is not recommended, as it can lead to possible complications.

Athlete’s foot in children

Children can also develop athlete’s foot. Here there are additional factors that favour this, such as playing in public open-air pools with a lack of subsequent hygiene. Also an increased sweating at the feet, for example with wrong footwear, supports the development of athlete’s foot.

In principle, the same active ingredients can be used as homeopathic therapy options for children. If you are unsure about the dosage, you should consult a homeopathic specialist. However, homeopathy for athlete’s foot in children is only recommended as a supporting measure.

When do I have to go to the doctor?

Since the treatment of athlete’s foot often requires orthodox medical therapy, a doctor should be consulted if athlete’s foot is present. In a few cases it can be tried to treat athlete’s foot independently, but the success remains rather questionable. If there are additional symptoms, such as pain or a rapid growth of the lesion, a doctor should be consulted promptly. Even if the homeopathic treatment is not successful, a medical examination should take place.

Other alternative forms of therapy

A possible alternative form of therapy for the treatment of athlete’s foot is the use of so-called microorganisms. These are usually bacteria that are applied locally at the site of the athlete’s foot infection. They ensure that the reproduction of the fungi is made more difficult, which means that they can be killed.

A possible preparation for this is Acidophilus, which contains so-called lactobacilli. The application should be carried out consistently for one week. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, athlete’s foot is primarily treated with ointments and herbs.

Here the treatment concept is adapted to the type and extent of the athlete’s foot infection. A tincture of various medicinal herbs is individually prepared and applied according to the athlete’s foot. For more persistent lesions, the use of a tea mixture of different holistically acting medicinal herbs may be appropriate.
