Tremble

Far less frequently, affected persons report a pronounced tremor after a stroke. This is the case when a stroke affects certain areas of the brain that play a decisive role in the generation of movement sequences. Since this is a scarring of a brain region, the tremor usually remains permanent unless it is adequately treated.

Another less frequent consequence of a stroke can be the so-called Holmes tremor. This is characterized by a slow, unrhythmic tremor and can occur when the upper brain stem is damaged. Furthermore, research is now investigating the connection between strokes and the development of Parkinson’s disease, as a possible connection is suspected.
