Tribulus Terrestris intake

Tribulus Terrestris is also known as Earthroot Thorn and is a plant found in the tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Asia and Southern Europe. For athletes, the extract of the plant is of particular interest, because the saponins it contains have a positive influence on testosterone production. When taking Tribulus Terrestris, the information varies slightly, because every athlete reacts slightly differently.

Some athletes get by with two capsules per day, others need four capsules to achieve an effect. The capsules should generally be taken with each meal. Depending on the number of capsules to be taken per day, a fourth capsule can then be taken between lunch and dinner.

Alternatively, a general recommendation with two capsules per day is interesting. The capsules are best taken in the morning on an empty stomach with sufficient water. Those who focus on mass build-up should consume sufficient protein during this time.

Recommended is 1.5 – 2 grams per kg body weight. In addition to the number of capsules, the saponin content also plays an important role in the intake. Here, the capsules sometimes differ greatly. Some capsules contain only 20 percent saponins, while others contain up to 80 percent. The higher the saponin content, the fewer capsules should be taken.

General rules

It is also recommended to take Tribulus Terrestris in the form of a cure. This means that there is always a period of ingestion (e.g. three capsules per day for six weeks) and a pause phase. This is important because the permanent intake of saponins can raise testosterone levels in the long term.

To prevent this effect, you should always take a break after a cure so that the testosterone level has the chance to normalize. The duration of the pause can be changed individually as long as the pause is sufficiently long. For example, you can take the capsules for three months and then pause for the next three months.

Many athletes take Tribulus Terrestris because they are convinced that it is a side-effect free anabolic replacement. However, this is not quite true and there are a few things you should be aware of and you should definitely find out about the exact mode of action before taking Tribulus Terrestris. Tribulus Terrestris stimulates the production of certain hormones, which in turn boost the body’s own production of testosterone.

Ultimately this increases the testosterone level in the blood. Above all, the hope of building more muscle mass through the increased testosterone content motivates many athletes to take Tribulus Terrestris. However, this is not quite true.

Testosterone actually only has one thing in common with Tribulus Terrestris, because both substances lead to a positive doping test. This means that the drug is freely available in Germany. The active ingredient is pressed into tablets and also taken in this form.

During the intake one should pay attention to continue to eat normally and not to do without anything. Endurance sports and regular regeneration phases should also be included. The dosage of the tablets ranges from 1200 mg to 200 mg per pill.

However, the recommended amount is set at 1200 mg per day. The capsules should be taken regularly with a glass of water. So far, no study has been conducted to investigate the long-term side effects.

One should therefore be well informed about the active ingredient saponin before taking the capsules and consider whether the risks and possible successes are worth taking. In general, one can say about taking dietary supplements such as Tribulus Terrestris that every athlete should consider whether he or she really needs this product. A healthy and balanced diet can do a lot for your muscle build-up. In addition, you should not exceed the maximum amounts stated, as these products are not a substitute for a balanced diet.
