Tribulus Terrestris side effects

Many athletes resort to so-called supplements from time to time, dietary supplements, which are supposed to make the training even more effective and the results even clearer. But not all supplements are free of risks and side effects. And often the athletes do not even know which dangers they are exposed to.

Especially cheap dietary supplements from abroad bear significantly higher risks than domestic quality products, because abroad there are often different manufacturing conditions and laws, which can lead to a contamination of the product. Tribulus Terrestris, or also known as earth thorn, is a plant native to the Mediterranean and Asia. But it is also known in Africa as a poisonous plant that should not be used for animal feed.

Two active ingredients, tigogenin and diosgenin, are particularly interesting and are considered in Bulgaria as effective ways to increase libido. Tigogenin and diosgenin are steroid derivatives and can increase performance. But also side effects of the drug are known. In rams, poisoning, jaundice and paralysis have occurred, but these have not yet been adequately proven in humans. Gastro-intestinal problems and mild jaundice symptoms have been proven so far.

The problems in the stomach and intestine

The problems in the stomach and intestines are mainly caused by the oral form of Tribulus Terrestris. This natural food supplement causes the stomach one problem or another and can lead to slight discomfort. The symptoms are similar to those of food intolerance and are a reaction of the human body to the ingredients of the plant.

If you notice these symptoms on your body, you should remain calm and refrain from taking the product any further. You can also go through the list of ingredients and check if you have any intolerances to certain substances. If the symptoms do not disappear, even if you have stopped taking the product days ago, it is advisable to consult a doctor and have the matter clarified. Even before you decide to take this dietary supplement, you should consult your family doctor and have it clarified whether the ingredients interact with certain drugs or other preparations.
