Trichomonads: Medical History

Medical history (history of illness) represents an important component in the diagnosis of trichomonad infection.

Family history

Social history

Current anamnesis/systemic anamnesis (somatic and psychological complaints).

  • Have you noticed any symptoms such as discharge or vaginal itching? (Question for the woman)
  • Have you noticed any discharge from the urethra? (Question for the man)
  • How long have these changes existed?
  • What does the discharge look like? Does it smell?
  • Do you suffer from micturition discomfort such as burning during urination or frequent urination?
  • Do you have pain during sexual intercourse?
  • Do your symptoms fluctuate during your menstrual cycle? (Question for the woman)
  • Very rarely: Bathing in unchlorinated thermal water, towels, swimwear? (for young children) (question to parents).

Vegetative anamnesis including nutritional anamnesis.

  • Do you have frequently changing sexual partners?
  • Do you have unprotected sexual intercourse?
  • Do you often go to the swimming pool? Thermal bath?

Self-history incl. medication history

  • Pre-existing conditions (venereal diseases; male: prostatitis, inflammation of the epididymis).
