Urinary Retention (Ischuria): Test and Diagnosis

2nd-order laboratory parameters-depending on the results of the history, physical examination, and obligatory laboratory parameters-for differential diagnostic clarification.

  • Small blood count
  • Fasting glucose (fasting blood glucose)
  • Inflammatory parameters – CRP (C-reactive protein) or ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).
  • Urine status (rapid test for: pH, leukocytes, nitrite, protein, glucose, blood), sediment, if necessary urine culture (pathogen detection and resistogram, that is, testing of suitable antibiotics for sensitivity / resistance).
  • Renal parameters – urea, creatinine, if necessary cystatin C or creatinine clearance.
  • PSA (prostate specific antigen) – if prostate cancer (prostate cancer) is suspected.
  • Thin-layer cytology – to exclude cervical carcinoma (cervical cancer).
