Vaccination against diphtheria

Diphtheria is a highly contagious, dangerous disease that affects the upper respiratory tract. Vaccination is possible from the 3rd month of life, until then the child is usually protected by the mother, because antibodies can be transmitted during pregnancy, but also afterwards through breast milk. The vaccination is given by inoculating four times. The first time is given at about 3 months of age, the last time at about 15 years of age. In order to be protected for life, the vaccination should be given every 10 years after the last vaccination.

Vaccination against pertussis

The whooping cough vaccination is usually given in a combination vaccination with tetanus and diphtheria. So your child does not have to be pricked again and again. If you are pregnant and have not been vaccinated against whooping cough, this can also be done up to about the 8th month of pregnancy.

Vaccination against Haemophilus Influenza B

Pneumococci are bacteria that can cause many different diseases. For example, pneumococci can cause meningitis, pneumonia and ear infections.

Vaccination against rotavirus

Against Rotaviren can be inoculated starting from the 6. life week. It is not recommended directly by STIKO, but is noted under “for special occasions”. The rotavirus vaccination is an oral vaccination and therefore completely painless.

Rotaviruses are viruses that can cause severe diarrhoea and vomiting in young children. It is not uncommon that these little ones have to be treated in hospital. Diarrhoea and vomiting can cause a large loss of fluid in babies in just a few hours. This can quickly become life-threatening. To protect yourself from rotaviruses it is also advisable to wash your hands as often as possible and to keep the environment as germ-free as possible.
